چکیده
The current effort towards the progressive switch from carbon-based to renewable energy production is leading a relevant spreading of both on- and off-shore wind turbine towers. Regarding reinforced concrete shallow foundations onshore steel towers, possible reductions reinforcement may increase their sustainability, speed erection, competitiveness. article presents results an experimental program carried out at Politecnico di Milano concerning cyclic monotonic loading, simulating extreme conditions on 1:15 scaled models towers connected by stud bolt adapters embedded in sandy soil. Three couples foundation specimens were tested with different layouts: (a) similar praxis, (b) without shear reinforcement, (c) 50% ordinary rebars replaced fibers. Additional vertical loads added small-scale order ensure similarity terms stresses. test allowed (i) characterize mechanical behavior element considering soil-structure interaction under service ultimate load conditions, (ii) assess failure mode, (iii) highlight role each typology reinforcing bars forming cage, (iv) provide hints for optimization these latter.

Analyzing the Effects of Soil-Structure Interactions on the Static Response of Onshore Wind Turbine Foundations Using Finite Element Method
The use of wind turbines to generate electricity has increased in recent years. One of the most important parts of a wind turbine is the foundation, which should be designed accurately because it is influenced by difference forces. Soil cannot carry tension stress; thus, when a wind turbine foundation is applied eccentricity forces, a gap appears between the soil and foundation. The gap will ha...
متن کاملCrack Monitoring of Operational Wind Turbine Foundations
The degradation of onshore, reinforced-concrete wind turbine foundations is usually assessed via above-ground inspections, or through lengthy excavation campaigns that suspend wind power generation. Foundation cracks can and do occur below ground level, and while sustained measurements of crack behaviour could be used to quantify the risk of water ingress and reinforcement corrosion, these crac...
متن کاملSuppression of the vibrations of wind turbine towers
We investigate the suppression of the vibrations of a wind turbine tower using colocated feedback to achieve strong stability. We decompose the system into one model describing the vibrations in the plane of the turbine axis and another model in the plane of the turbine blades. In the plane of the turbine axis, we obtain a non-uniform Spacecraft Control Laboratory Experiment (SCOLE) model with ...
متن کاملWind tunnel tests of a free yawing downwind wind turbine
This research paper presents preliminary results on a behavioural study of a free yawing downwind wind turbine. A series of wind tunnel tests was performed at the TU Delft Open Jet Facility with a three bladed downwind wind turbine and a rotor radius of 0.8 meters. The setup includes an off the shelf three bladed hub, nacelle and generator on which relatively flexible blades are mounted. The to...
